Here the somewhat grumpy nose requires aggressive swirling to coax the earth and sauvage-inflected dark berry fruit aromas to reveal themselves

supple tannins and a persistent finish

and no skin contact

white pepper and bay leaf

textured and firm tannin structure

but not bracingly so
