Blacksmith Artisan Back BrickThis is the back fire brick for the Blacksmith Artisan inset stove, made from high density vermiculite. The back brick lines the rear wall of the firebox, protecting the stove body from direct flame contact and reflecting heat forward into the room. Replace it when cracks develop that expose the stove's steel or cast iron bodywork to flame. Baffle plates wear down with sustained use and should be checked regularly for cracks or warping

A deteriorating baffle plate allows hot gases to escape too quickly

The ash pan on the Hi-Flame Precision I (HF905) sits beneath the carrier frame

making it difficult to regulate burn rate and reducing combustion efficiency

When it is damaged

A tight glass seal also reduces the smoke that deposits on the inside of the glass

replace it promptly to keep combustion under control and the stove operating safely

Replacing the full brick set at once ensures all bricks wear at the same rate and fit flush against each other in the firebox

which indicates the brick is no longer providing adequate protection

making the stove difficult to light and prone to over-fuelling
