TC 223 Gajah Mada portrait.This is larger than the usual head found. I believe it to be Gajah Mada, the prime minister of Hayam Wuruk. He wears a crown and has a fine plaited sideburn. Hollow form The face has traces of the red pigment sometimes seen on unglazed articles. There are two damage marks caused by the digging implement of the finder. Ht 10. 5 x 7 x 8. 2cm

The head is from Blackboy tree (xanthorrhoea australis)

We bought him in the '80sas one character in a complete dalang set from the Paku Alam family in Jogyakarta
